Stress is building up globally and more people are looking to natural herbs to relieve anxiety. COVID-19 crisis, economic shutdown are clear cut reasons for anxiety disorder in young adults to working-class and senior citizens. While it may take a few months for the situation to stabilize, the unease and restlessness may take a long time to settle down.

Ordinary medication is not a fool-proof remedy to respond to anxiety. It has its share of side effects. Herbal remedies are a time-tested remedy for prescription drugs. Nature has a treasure of herbal blends to fight anxiety without the annoying side effects. Let us find out the herbs and supplements that could reduce anxiety pangs.

1.   Cannabidiol

Cannabidiol (CBD), the key ingredient of a Cannabis plant, can bring a calming effect on the nervous system. The hybrid weed strain in correct THC to CBD ratio can alter the serotonin signals in the brain, which helps manage stress and anxiety. The National Institute on Drug Abuse confirms the effect of CBD on stress reduction and improving anxiety in the animal studies conducted.

Dosage: In edible form, take 5 -10 mg of CBD. Tablet, liquid extract, topical cream, gummies, vape liquid are other substitutes of Cannabidiol.

2.   Ashwagandha

A powerful rejuvenating herb, Ashwagandha can help reduce the level of the stress-causing hormone cortisol in the body. This calming adaptogen can help relieve muscle spasms and is also helpful in treating hypothyroidism. The leaves, seeds, and fruit of an Ashwagandha plant find their way in many treatments.

Dosage: In tincture form, 30 to 40 drops thrice a day. In capsule form, 400 to 500 mg capsule twice daily.

3.   Chamomile

Chamomile is one of the most used calming herbs to relieve anxiety. Apigenin is one of the calming constituents used to tackle moderate-to-severe anxiety. According to a 2016 study published in Phytomedicine, half the people who took 500 mg of chamomile thrice daily for up to eight weeks reported a significant reduction in anxiety symptoms.

Dosage: A cup of Chamomile tea before bedtime or in the morning. It also comes in extracts and tablet form.

I failed my annual mammogram. I was scheduled for I failed my annual mammogram. I was scheduled for a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound to potentially look for breast cancer…and boy did this cause some scanxiety!Good news! There’s no lumps, bumps, cysts, tumors, etc. my tests are normal. So why did I flunk my first mammogram? It could have been a glitch. Or…Hormones can cause breast tissue to be slightly different from week to week or scan to scan, which is why they suggest not doing your scan the week before your period (which is when I got scanned). It can be hard for women to avoid that week though when appointments are often made months in advance.Either way, I’ll be back next year for my 3rd mammogram. I hope you’ll remember to schedule yours.#breastcancer #mammogram #annualmammogram #scanxiety #perimenopausehealth #womenover40
