The use of CBD or cannabidiol continues to snowball throughout the globe. Everyone seems to be consuming the product for one reason or another despite their age, gender, or physical condition. Pregnant women are also turning to the compound to get relief and enhance their comfort during the gestation period. Research has been undertaken to find out whether CBD is safe to use during pregnancy or not. But before diving into the connection between CBD and pregnancy and how to use it, it’s vital to understand pregnancy as a whole.

Symptoms Associated With Pregnancy

Women experience different symptoms during pregnancy, which alter their bodies and change their lifestyles during the whole period. Most experience pain, fatigue, moodiness, and nausea, which may or may not include vomiting. Some women also end up having anxiety issues as well as depression.

While doctors term many of these symptoms as normal, it doesn’t mean that you should suffer in silence. Symptoms like depression and anxiety can affect your unborn child and lead to complications. Others like fatigue, nausea, moodiness, and consistent pain in various parts of the body can cause discomfort to the mother. They can also affect pregnant women socially and mentally.

That is why doctors recommend mothers take antibiotics, pain relievers, and depression medicines. The problem with these medications is that they come with side effects, some of which can be unbearable. With that in mind, mothers try to seek alternative solutions that come with fewer or no side effects. That is where CBD comes in.

Benefits of CBD to Pregnant Mothers

The number of pregnant women who take cbd capsules continues to increase drastically. That is because they understand the usefulness of cannabidiol during this period. Some of the main benefits pregnant women get to enjoy by using CBD include:

It can treat nausea and vomiting

As mentioned above, nausea is a prevalent symptom among pregnant women. That is due to the increased hormonal levels during gestation. CBD, on the other hand, works with various receptors to trigger the discharge of hormone serotonin in the body. Its availability tends to increase calmness, thus enabling pregnant women to handle nausea and vomiting.

CBD can treat stress and anxiety

One of the most common pregnancy symptoms is anxiety. The condition can get worse if not treated, and that may be detrimental to the unborn baby. That is why women use CBD, which works with the endocannabinoid system to deliver a calming effect. By doing so, they get relief from anxiety, thus protecting their unborn babies without fear of side effects.

Cannabidiol can help with moodiness

Moodiness in pregnant women often occurs as a result of hormonal imbalance.  Drastic mood swings can affect a person’s social life during the whole gestation period. That makes it hard for you to get the care you deserve from loved ones, and that can lead to depression. CBD can, however, work with different brain receptors, which are in charge of moods and help alleviate the condition.

CBD can ease pregnancy pains

Another common condition among pregnant women is abdominal pains. That can be due to the expansion of the uterus to accommodate the fetus. The mother can also experience sore breasts and back pains, among others. CBD works with the endocannabinoid system to prevent the absorption of the anandamide hormone. The increase of this hormone in the blood keeps the brain from registering the pain, thus keeping pregnant women safe.

How To Use CBD While Pregnant

Now that you understand how helpful CBD can be during pregnancy, it’s time to have a look at how pregnant women can use the compound. First, seek medical advice from a qualified doctor to find out if you are safe to take CBD. If you are under medication, make inquiries to prevent any drug interactions that may occur. Once in the clear, you need to know how to use the compound.

In most cases, it is advisable to take CBD orally to increase its effectiveness and reduce the time it takes for you to start feeling its effects. The only problem with the oral application is that the transportation of CBD takes place in the bloodstream. That means pregnant women can end up exposing their fetus to the compound. The bad news is that there are no studies yet explaining how CBD interacts with the fetus. It is thus impossible to know how extensive the damage can be, if at all.

That is why you need another application method. The most recommended way to use CBD while pregnant is by doing it topically. Select the right CBD cream and apply it throughout your body. Topically applied CBD does not rely on the blood for transportation. That is because it diffuses through the permeable skin to the required area. It thus becomes hard for it to have any contact with the fetus, and that keeps both the mother and the unborn baby safe.

CBD Dosage for Pregnant Women

Since you can’t take your CBD orally, it may be hard for you to know the quantity of CBD you are applying. In that case, you must start with low doses. Apply a small amount of CBD and observe the reaction. Increase the dosage gradually until you start feeling the effect.

You should also use only high-quality CBD. That is because other products may end up affecting you in different ways. High-quality CBD oil also works effectively, and so you get to enjoy the results sooner.

The use of CBD by pregnant women is a delicate topic that requires plenty of research so as to avoid mistakes. It is also crucial that you work hand in hand with a qualified practitioner for both your safety and that of your unborn baby. Start with a small dose and only use high-quality CBD products if you want to avoid problems. By doing so, you will be able to enjoy the benefits of CBD during pregnancy without any issues whatsoever.

I failed my annual mammogram. I was scheduled for I failed my annual mammogram. I was scheduled for a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound to potentially look for breast cancer…and boy did this cause some scanxiety!Good news! There’s no lumps, bumps, cysts, tumors, etc. my tests are normal. So why did I flunk my first mammogram? It could have been a glitch. Or…Hormones can cause breast tissue to be slightly different from week to week or scan to scan, which is why they suggest not doing your scan the week before your period (which is when I got scanned). It can be hard for women to avoid that week though when appointments are often made months in advance.Either way, I’ll be back next year for my 3rd mammogram. I hope you’ll remember to schedule yours.#breastcancer #mammogram #annualmammogram #scanxiety #perimenopausehealth #womenover40
