6 Simple Skincare Tips To Follow

Long, sun-soaked days can be both a blessing and a challenge for your skin. While summer brings warmth, outdoor fun, and a healthy glow, it also means extra exposure to heat, sweat, and UV rays. That makes now the perfect time to reset your routine and build habits that keep your skin clear, hydrated, and protected all season long. If you’re not sure where to start, these six simple tips will point you in the right direction.

Adapt To Your Water Quality

Okay, so many of us may have no idea whether the water that comes out of our taps is hard or soft. But when it comes to your skin, this can have an enormous impact! Search online to find the water quality where you live.

Soft water isn’t great when it comes to removing soap, meaning that you should use face and body cleansers sparingly. At the other end of the scale, hard water doesn’t allow products to lather easily so you may use too much of it which will then cause dryness. Using gentler formulas is a great way of combating this issue.

Don’t Get Stressed

We all know that stress has a negative impact on our bodies, and this is certainly the case when it comes to our skin. Stress increases production of hormones such as cortisol, making skin oilier and reducing its ability to fight off bacteria that causes acne.

Though we all live busy lives, try to set aside some time every day to deal with stress, whether this is by having a relaxing bubble bath, meditating or doing yoga. This should also have a positive impact on other areas of your health and wellbeing.

Watch Your Sun Exposure

The links between too much sun exposure and skin cancer are clear, so make sure you use the appropriate sunscreen when you are out in the heat. This can even be a problem when you’re indoors! Studies have found that UV rays can penetrate through windows in your home, office and car. Wearing a moisturiser with an SPF is a good way to combat this problem (now that you know it’s out there!).

Try New Skin Treatments

There are so many different types of skin treatment out there, which all have various effects. It may simply be a case of trying out a few of these different techniques and establishing what works best for you. You can also contact the great team at Elan Skin & Laser to take care of this for you.

Drink Green Tea

Green tea has been found to have all sorts of positive health properties. Its anti-inflammatory qualities mean that it is perfect for dealing with skin that is red and blotchy. It also contains epigallocatechin gallate which may help collagen destruction that in turn has been found to cause wrinkles. If you’re a regular coffee drinker, now may be the time to join the green tea revolution.

Get a Good Night’s Sleep

So much can be solved by a good night’s sleep. This is when your body’s repair mechanisms take full effect including your skin. Not getting enough sleep can cause the production of hormones that have been shown to cause skin problems. This is probably the simplest and most naturally rewarding skin advice to leave you with!

The Bottom Line

Caring for your skin doesn’t have to be complicated—sometimes it’s the simple, consistent habits that make the biggest difference. By paying attention to your water quality, managing stress, protecting yourself from the sun, exploring new treatments, fueling your body with skin-friendly options like green tea, and getting plenty of sleep, you’ll give your skin exactly what it needs to thrive this summer. Start small, stay consistent, and let these tips guide you toward a healthier, more radiant complexion all season long.
